Reverend Ms. Hilary McLellan

Associate Pastor for Youth and Missions

The Rev. Ms. Hilary McLellan officially joined our ministry staff on January 12, 2020 in a part-time ministry as our Associate Pastor for Youth and Missions.

"I am excited and delighted to be serving in Bristol developing youth and mission programs with Pastor Burton and the congregation, as well as creating a ministry for Roger Williams students," Rev. McLellan said.

"Pastor Hilary brings a vitality and energy to our ministry at First Congregational Church and I'm so grateful that our deacons have given me this opportunity to affirm God's call on her life to join us as our Associate Pastor for Youth and Missions by funding this position from our Christian Education Endowment," said Pastor Burton.

Pastor Hilary has four children: Max, Chloe, Oliver and Athena.  Her undergraduate degree is from Yale University where she majored in Political Science and Economics with an emphasis on Third World Development.

She also studied in the Ph.D. program for child development at Harvard University while teaching psychology. She subsequently moved to Boston University School of Theology where she earned a Master of Divinity degree. She has served in parish ministry as well as in hospital spiritual care management as a chaplain and chaplain supervisor.

Per the church bylaws, the Diaconate (Board of Deacons) has endorsed the senior pastor's prayerful decision to affirm God's call on Pastor Hilary's life to serve in vocational ministry with us.
